Warm Homes, Healthy People Fund Launched in Knowsley

The Warm Homes Healthy People initiative was announced by The Department of Health during publication of the Cold Weather Plan for England on 1st November 2011. This fund contributes to a range of advice and support to help individuals, families and carers to prepare for cold weather, supporting the health and well-being of the most vulnerable.

Projects and initiatives that support vulnerable people through the winter months can be considered from community groups based in Knowsley.

Grants of up to £2,500 are available to improve public health by reducing the levels of death and illness and disease due to cold housing. Funding will be available for community groups who support vulnerable people at risk of suffering deleterious effects to their health from severe cold, especially arising from cold housing.

Priority will be given to those organisations who enable older people to solve their own winter problems with projects such as sharing meals and encouraging people to shop for each other.

Closing Date: 10th February 2012
