Volunteering
Becoming a Volunteer
Volunteering is about giving your time to do something useful without getting paid (apart from expenses). Volunteering might be about giving something back to the community, being a good neighbour, or getting involved in new activities. You can make a difference, whether it’s at one off events or on a regular basis.
Roles are very diverse and can include working in an office, befriending old people, helping out in youth clubs and children's centres, undertaking research, working in a charity shop, gardening, painting.. in fact, almost anything!
Search for Opportunities across Knowsley and Greater Merseyside
You can visit the www.do-it.org website, where you can register as a volunteer and search for an opportunity that interests you. The Volunteer Centre that listed the role will get back to you with the full details.
Alternatively you can come in to the Volunteer Centre for an informal chat, or get in touch for an information pack and registration form.
Some of the benefits of volunteering are that you can...
- Develop your skills
- Gain practical work-based experience
- Raise your confidence and self-esteem
- Try new experiences
- Meet new people
- Become valued and recognised for your input
- Gain a sense of satisfaction for putting something back into the community
The Volunteer Centre will be able to support you to search through hundreds of opportunities and put you in touch with organisations and causes you are interested in. We can also provide information, advice and support over the phone and email if that is more convenient.

We offer fortnightly drop in sessions if you don’t have internet access, have support needs or would like help and advice with registering on the Do-it website and to identify opportunities.

Please note there may be a short wait.
